Advocacy & Accountability

Promoting increased graduation rates and postsecondary attainment cannot come without a better understanding of Tennessee’s higher education system. Complete Tennessee researches completion challenges, examines the equity gaps and collects data on the efficacy of the state’s higher education policies and practices. We also collaborate with state and local leaders in all 95 counties to encourage better understanding of the postsecondary landscape and share best practices that will promote greater student success.

Each year, Complete Tennessee releases a report that includes county-level and institution-specific benchmarks. Download this report, and ongoing publications from our research agenda, below.

The 2016 report, entitled Room to Grow: The State of Higher Education in Tennesseeoffers a comprehensive look at Tennessee's higher education landscape and highlights significant equity gaps and completion challenges throughout the state's postsecondary system.

Following the 2016 State of Higher Education in Tennessee report release, Complete Tennessee conducted a statewide listening tour to better understand the barriers facing current and future postsecondary students in the state. Each of the nine roundtable events sparked robust conversations on barriers to completion and opportunities to improve student outcomes.

Findings from the tour are highlighted in the report “Room To Grow: Regional Perspectives on Higher Education Improvement".
